1a.jpg (26128 bytes) 9/27/01 As Dave departs for home he takes some parting shots. This one is of Glouster with our sign soon to be mounted on the column behind it. 2DIVE4 is coming together very nicely.

1.jpg (32344 bytes) 9/24/01 It is the end of the first full day of Dave's visit and the glass block that he brought from Pittsburgh has been put into place. Depending on the time of the year, the sun sets at various locations on the horizon; all provide a spectacular show from our pool deck.

Mvc-015f.jpg (56572 bytes) 9/21/01 Our yard has been compacted and the driveway installed. Our front gate is also in place. It is actually starting to look like a finished house. Our landscaper is busy planting sea grapes on the other side of the house to help with security and to stop erosion. So exciting! Dave will brave the new flight situations and head down this weekend to finish things up with the builder. We are planning on moving in the week of Columbus Day if all goes well.

Mvc-005f2.jpg (60575 bytes) 9/13/01 Originally our hot tub was to be embedded into the pool deck. However, due to a space miscalculation it ended up on top of the deck. Ahhh the joys of building in the islands! However, we have found that if you look for it you can find a positive side to everything. The good news is that it will provide bathers with a better view of the sea in this position as well as offer a 36 inch elevated platform for those who wish to enter the pool in a rapid vertical manner. It will also provide us with another opportunity to use glass block. The open side of the tub facing the pool will be closed off with clear block that will be illuminated from within the tub

6.jpg (25919 bytes) 9/5/01  We are in peak hurricane season and the shutters are up just in case. Our front door is in place, the sewage system is in and our driveway will be started soon. Dave has returned with a lot of photos.

Mvc_003f.jpg (43592 bytes) 8/30/01  Dave is packing extra suitcases with last minute light fixtures and lock sets to take with him when he leaves tomorrow for a whirlwind inspection of the job site. As can be seen in this photo the glass block is up around the pool deck and will be capped off with concrete. The cabinets are scheduled to be installed this weekend. Back home Sue is struggling with Best Buy's web page to place an order for all our electronic items that will be shipped down with the furniture in October.

Mvc_022f.jpg (52957 bytes) 8/23/01 Art our plumber and the mason are building our stone wall facade in the dive station. If all goes well, there will be a waterfall effect from the showers on this wall. It should be real cool. On the outside more glass block is going up as part of the pool deck railing, work continues on the hot tub and the tiling. Dave goes down again next weekend to oversee some details as the project gets very close to completion.

housesideview.jpg (38280 bytes) 8/15/01 Dave and Sue have just returned from a week in paradise. However, most of the time was spent making alterations, shopping for misc. owner supplied items as well as meeting with our architect, builder, and subcontractors. A lot of progress has been made on site as you can see in this photo. However, inside is where the action is really going on. Lighting fixtures have been installed, most of the tile is down, the glass block showers are up and lots of color abounds on the walls and ceilings. Traditional Caribbean decorating is known for the use of many colors. This came from the times when a home owner might use a little bit of this paint on one wall and a little bit of another paint on the ceiling based upon what was available at the time. It was with this in mind that we came up with the very colorful decorating scheme that 2DIVE4 is quickly becoming known for.

8/2/01
A lot is happening. Most of the painting is done. the glass block has been started. The hot tub has been formed and will be poured this Friday. Meanwhile, ash from Montserrat(an Island 150 miles to the East) has been falling due to an erupting volcano there. This can be seen in the tint in the roof color. Sue and Dave head down in a week from today.

7/28/01 We shopped till we dropped at the furniture capital of the world and purchased almost all of the furnishings for 2dive4. Pictured left to right is our consultant Susan Sherrill, Susan Mickley and Dave Mickley as we look through catalogues, cloth samples, and our house plans. To quote Susan Sherrill "This is going to be a fun house!" We think so too. Down in St. Croix we understand that the hot tub is being formed, painting continues and the boundary walls are still going up. More photos soon.

7/22/01 The great east wall of St. Croix is being built. This boundary wall will be up against our neighbor's wooden wall and will provide continuity to 2Dive4's outer perimeter. As the saying goes "Good fences make for good neighbors".
Back home Sue and Dave head to NC this weekend to buy the furniture. In less than 2 weeks they will both be on the job site for a personal inspection and lots of new photos.
