Frequently Asked Questions

How close are you to the beach?

There is a long stretch of  beach 100 feet from our back gate. Only the very close residents make use of this area of the coast. Because of this it is excellent for sunbathing (very private) or playing in the sand.  There is a public beach called Cane Bay just ½ mile from us.  This beach is very sandy, is great for people watching and is located adjacent to two informal eating & drinking establishments.

Do I need a vehicle?

I definitely encourage all guests to rent a car.  There is so much to do and see. While our part of the island is beautiful, you will want to see and experience the rest of it.  I use Judi of Croix Car Rentals, St. Croix, US Virgin Islands  (877-903-2123).

However, guests have stayed a full week without a vehicle.  Phillip will take you by the grocery store on your way from the airport to the Villa.  Alternatively, Phillip can stock your kitchen for you prior to your arrival.  Additionally, there are 6 restaurants within easy walking distance.  4 serve lunch & dinner, 1 serves all 3 meals and 1 is only open for dinner.

What is the best time of year to visit St. Croix?

There are pros and cons to visiting St. Croix at different times of the year.  We divide the calendar into 2 seasons:  December 15th to April 15th is high season.  April 16th to December 14th is low season.

The principal advantages of coming during high season is it is cold back home but is nice and toasty in St. Croix.

As for low season, there are some distinct advantages:

a.       Rates are lower for the Villa, for flying and for some activities.

b.      The sea is generally calmer.

c.      There are fewer people on the island.

Are the dates that I desire to visit 2dive4 available?

What is the weather like?

The temperature is in the 80s every day.  In the Winter it is in the low 80s, dipping into the 70s at night, and in the Summer it is in the high 80s, creeping into the 90s at midday.  Those few degrees are all that differentiate our “seasons”.  The trade winds that blow in the tropical latitudes are largely responsible for the pleasant climate. They can range from a gentle breeze to gusty, blustery 20 to 30 knot winds known locally as “Christmas Winds”.

Precipitation is usually in the form of brief localized showers that pass in minutes.  The downfall can be heavy, but soon the sun comes out and once again it is another beautiful day.

What is the cost to stay at 2dive4?

Rates are based upon the number of guests, the length of stay and the time of year you wish to visit.  Please see Rates for complete details.

If I am a US citizen do I need a passport to travel to and from St. Croix?

Please see the following taken from the FAQs on the US Department of State web site:

"The passport requirement does NOT apply to U.S. citizens traveling to or returning directly from a U.S. territory. U.S. citizens returning directly from a U.S. territory are not considered to have left the United States and do not need to present a passport. U.S. territories include the following: Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Swains Island, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands."

However, some form of identification such as a drivers license or birth certificate is needed when departing.

Why would I ever stay at any other villa on St. Croix?

That is one question we honestly don't have an answer for.
